How we are helping our area
Alpena, MI. mans journey
Frank Riley, a retired air force sergeant decided to leave his two dogs to make a trip to Swannanoa, NC. He has a giving heart along with his community of Alpena, MI.
Frank drove 971 miles one way, to bring a 1997 Georgie Boy Pursuit RV. Which he bought and worked on himself. It came along with a lot of supplies donated from businesses and individuals from his home town. Which were distributed to one of the many areas severely impacted by Hurricane Helene in September 2024.
Frank had the help of our non-profit organization, WNC Helping Homes, to distribute the supplies to the Ingles Disaster Distribution Center in Black Mountain, NC and Victory Baptist Church in Black Mountain.
Updates for our RV: We placed the RV with a gentleman whose name is Lyle Rikards, a musician in the area that lost everything he had in the hurricane. He had to move away to Florida with his family after the storm, he will be glad to get back to WNC.
